On the very first day of vacation, we were docked in Nassau, Bahamas. Our taxi driver took us to what he believes is the best local food. Nic had been going on and on about his craving for conch salad since our last time eating it was about 2 years ago. So of course we ordered it and it was fresh. Like we saw the guy pulling it out of the ocean fresh.
Now, if you've been following me for a little while now you might have read this post here and you know that I am horribly allergic to raw oysters. I will throw up within 30 minutes of eating even the smallest bite. And guess what, I learned that I'm also allergic to raw conch. Yup, this pretty much sets the tone of the entire trip. Less than 15 minutes of eating it, I was hovering over multiple toilets throwing my brains up. The rest of the trip was mostly spent in the room with bottles of water, my face in a pillow and groaning noises from motion sickness because the crazy waves the damn ship was hitting.
But I survived and I am now happily back at home with my precious dogs and no more vomiting or motion sickness. Hallelujah!!!
Not so luckily, I woke up yesterday and my voice was completely gone and when I do attempt to speak, my voice sounds like an old man whose been chain smoking cigarettes for the past 50 years. But I'd rather have old man/no voice than be vomiting seafood chunks (sorry for being overly graphic.)
The next 2 weeks for pretty hectic for us because my younger brother and his buddies are on their spring break and are crashing at our house for a week. 5 boys, 2 dogs, and an overly OCD freak (me) do not mix well. I find myself cleaning every chance I get when their out and about so that my OCD is soothed.
After they leave, Nic's mom and stepdad will be visiting for a few days. Having a house means having house guests. I'm not used to this because I'm used to living in an 1 bedroom apartment and only when close friends would visit would stay with me but hey, I'm getting housewife practice right?!
Anyway I am happy to be back and I hope you didn't miss me too much while I was away ;)

How awful that you were sick during your trip! Being sick on a vacation is no fun at all! Glad you are back to (semi) feeling better :).
