Appreciate Every Day

Today I learned to appreciate every single day I am given because tomorrow isn't guaranteed. 

Many of you may have heard about what happened last night at the University of Central Florida where I am a current student. While it should have been a night of drinking green beer with friends and embracing all that green attire, for many of us at UCF it wasn't so cheerful.

Around 2 in the morning I got several texts from our school informing us that a suicide had happened on campus. It happened in the same dorms I lived at freshmen year. Just 2 floors higher. Of course at first I felt sympathy because no one deserves to feel like suicide is the only answer. 

When I woke up this morning I had 8 texts on my phone telling us that all the students in that dorm building had been evacuated and that classes were canceled. I saw photos on my Facebook page of police officers on campus and it looked very serious.

As it turned out the person who had taken his life was planning to use violence to attack our school. They found guns and explosives in his dorm room. This seriously took my breath away. What if he had actually gone through with his attacks? I was supposed to be on campus this week. 

How can someone have so much hatred and want to kill innocent people? I will never understand why some of these heinous things happen but I am SO grateful that everyone is alive and unharmed. Today I truly appreciated life more than I think I ever have. Honestly people, you never know what will happen so tell your loved ones that you love them every chance you get!
